Job Requirements

Must be able to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions
Must have ability to do arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages
Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
Must be able to write identifying information and request supplies verbally or in writing
Visual acuity including vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with depth perception and field of vision
Must be able to work varying shift lengths and times including nights, weekends, and holidays
Good judgment required as direct supervision may not be immediately available

Job Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent
Prior experience in cash handling or retail customer service preferred
Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Knowledge of store products and sales promotions is an advantage
Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions
Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether in their department or elsewhere in the store
Operates cash register accurately and scans all products
Redeems promotional coupons, food stamps, WIC checks, rain checks, receives cash, checks, EFT transactions, processes in-store charges and applies discounts
Places merchandise in cart neatly and assists courtesy staff as needed
Answers customer questions and concerns and follows up with appropriate personnel
Understands and complies with local, state, and company policies on sales of tobacco and liquor
Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines regarding WIC and food stamps
Knows product value, lookup numbers, department numbers, and features for accurate transaction processing
Stocks, faces, rotates merchandise, cleans shelves, knows merchandise location in store and backroom, and assists customers with finding items
Reviews weekly store ad for price changes and sale items
Maintains clean register area, adheres to 5S standards, ensures supplies are available, and helps maintain store appearance
