Job Requirements
- High school degree
- Some college preferred
- Computer literacy with MS Office proficiency preferred
- Library or bookstore experience preferred
- Ability to stand, walk, crouch, stoop, squat, twist, climb
- Ability to push/pull up to 50 pounds and lift up to 25 pounds
- Availability for evening and weekend shifts
- Excellent communication skills
- Pass a background check
Job Qualifications
- High school degree
- Some college preferred
- Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred
- Experience in libraries or bookstores preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to a changing environment
- Strong problem-solving and customer service orientation
Job Duties
- Warmly welcome customers into the library and ensure a great experience and a fond farewell
- Provide assistance to customers on the floor and in the stacks, helping them find books and use self-checkout services
- Maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and attractive displays throughout the library
- Engage patrons in conversations about library promotions, programs and services
- Manage the opening and closing of the library ensuring readiness for daily activities
- Oversee experience zones, including stocking, cleaning and coordinating technological or interactive features
- Assist customers with library card registration, fees, interlibrary loan requests, copy center use, and basic computer needs including email and internet navigation
