Job Description

The Parkwood is an exciting new independent living community located in Sioux Falls, SD, set to open in early 2024. Designed exclusively for adults aged 55 and older, The Parkwood offers a vibrant and active lifestyle within a community of 133 apartment homes. Job Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Prior experience as a cook or lead cook
  • Ability to prepare high quality food
  • Flexibility with schedule may be required, including occasional daytime, special events, and other shifts
  • Maintain professional relationships with food and equipment vendors as needed
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to prepare therapeutic/modified diets
  • Completion of background check and/or pre-employment tasks
  • Current First Aid training and Food Safety certifications may be required
  • CPR and first aid training may be required per state/local guidelines

Job Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a cook or lead cook (1-2 years preferred)
  • Ability to prepare high quality food for residents
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to prepare therapeutic/modified diets
  • Current First Aid training and food safety certifications may be required
  • CPR and first aid training may be required per state/local guidelines
  • Successful completion of a recognized food safety course, as required by state/local guidelines

Job Duties

  • Prepare assigned stations for shift
  • Under direction of lead cook/sous chef, prepare individual components of various entrees and food items, adhering to the individual dietary restrictions of residents
  • Occasionally setup food buffets for special events
  • Help prep food items for continental breakfast
  • Maintain kitchen food safety and sanitary food handling in compliance with State, Federal, and DSHS regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Help with dishes and keep kitchen clean and well organized
