Job Description

The Parkwood is an exciting new independent living community located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, designed specifically for active adults aged 55 and older. Job Requirements

  • Current First Aid training and Food Safety certifications may be required in some states per state/local requirements
  • Flexibility with schedule may be required, with occasional need to work daytime (lunch hour), special events, and other days/shifts as needed
  • CPR and first aid training may be required per state/local guidelines
  • Successful completion of recognized food safety course, as required by state/local guidelines
  • Completion of background check and/or pre-employment tasks
  • The ability to push/pull/carry up to 50lbs
  • Standing and walking, reaching overhead, lifting heavy objects, and use of kitchen appliances and equipment
  • At least 18 years of age

Job Qualifications

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Prior experience as a cook/lead cook (1-2 years preferred)
  • Ability to prepare high quality food for residents
  • Maintain professional relationships with food and equipment vendors as needed
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with staff and residents
  • Ability to prepare therapeutic/modified diets

Job Duties

  • Prepare assigned stations for shift
  • Under direction of lead cook/sous chef, prepare individual components of various entrees and food items, adhering to the individual dietary restrictions of residents
  • Occasionally setup food buffets for special events
  • Help prep food items for continental breakfast
  • Maintain kitchen food safety and sanitary food handling in compliance with State, Federal, and DSHS regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Help with dishes and keep kitchen clean and well organized
