Job Requirements
- completion of eighth grade
- one year of experience in building or grounds maintenance involving manual labor
- one year of supervisory or leadership experience
- must possess valid Arkansas Class D Driver's License before employment
- must obtain valid Arkansas Class B Commercial Driver's License within 90 days of employment and maintain it
- ability to lift, push, pull or carry up to 100 pounds
- willingness to work in physically demanding and potentially hazardous environments
- ability to work safely and follow instructions

- knowledge of carpentry methods and techniques
- knowledge of building construction methods and practices
- knowledge of concrete mixing, pouring, and finishing procedures
- knowledge of welding methods and techniques
- knowledge of equipment maintenance procedures
- familiarity with building trades
- skill in use of hand and light power tools
- skill in operating tractors or light earth moving equipment
- skill in operation of automatic transmission vehicles
- skill in operation of light and medium trucks
- ability to perform manual labor
- ability to lift, push, pull or carry up to 100 pounds
- ability to understand simple written and oral instructions
- ability to keep simple records
- ability to work safely and maintain alertness
- effective oral communication skills
Job Duties
- perform carpentry, minor welding and other semiskilled repair and construction work on buildings and equipment at Parks and Recreation facilities
- prepare surfaces and apply paint, varnish and other protective materials
- utilize power sandblaster to remove graffiti or prepare surfaces
- operate hand tools to dig trenches for utility lines
- build forms for pouring concrete and operate cement mixer
- finish concrete surfaces
- provide working supervision to Parks Maintenance Workers and part-time employees
- work with skilled craftsmen in assembling and installing pipe and wiring for utility and irrigation systems
- install and maintain playground equipment
- repair and install equipment at special events including tents and stages and seasonal facilities such as swimming pools and ball fields
- complete daily record of work completed
- operate equipment requiring a Commercial Driver's License in the performance of essential job functions
