Job Requirements

  • reliable transportation
  • American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification or comparable CPR / AED for the Professional Rescuer Certification
  • First Aid Certification
  • must be 15 years old or older
  • must reside within a two-hour driving radius of Guilford County
  • ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • physical ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally
  • valid driver's license if driving for county business
  • maintain proper insurance if using personal vehicle for county business

Job Qualifications

  • American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification or comparable CPR / AED for the Professional Rescuer Certification
  • First Aid Certification
  • must be 15 years old or older
  • effective communication skills both orally and in writing
  • ability to apply First Aid, CPR, and AED skills
  • ability to perform rescue techniques and emergency procedures
  • ability to enforce facility rules with firmness and tact
  • ability to work with diverse age groups including youth, adults, and seniors
  • ability to maintain a positive attitude and cooperative demeanor
  • ability to work various assigned shifts

Job Duties

  • Assist in the enforcement of rules and regulations set for the County pool facility assigned
  • monitor activities and operations
  • answer questions and provide information to the public concerning rules, regulations, policies, and aquatic programming
  • respond to complaints and forward to appropriate staff
  • enforce pool rules and regulations
  • explain and post rules where they are visible to the public and staff
  • maintain order and discipline in and around the facility
  • respond to and assist with emergencies occurring in or around the facility quickly and effectively
  • keep order and discipline with the public during emergencies
  • administer First Aid and CPR as needed and perform appropriate rescues when necessary
  • perform basic cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, stocking restrooms, sanitizing, picking up trash, skimming pool, and vacuuming pool
  • identify possible hazards through daily inspection of equipment and supplies
  • report all findings to appropriate supervisor
  • assist with filing of written records and compose reports as scheduled
  • participate in continuing education and training by attending in-service training sessions and performing physical fitness drills
  • promote water safety awareness with professional attitude and courtesy
