Job Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • ability to obtain and maintain a valid Responsible Beverage Management Certificate within 90 days of employment
  • four years of experience related to planning, coordinating, or supervising recreational programs, events, or facility operations
  • capability to work occasional weekends and evening hours to meet programming needs
  • strong organizational and communication skills
  • ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with multiple stakeholders

Job Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • college-level coursework in recreation, event management, public administration, or a related field
  • four years of experience related to planning, coordinating, or supervising recreational programs, events, or facility operations
  • any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities, and skills may be considered

Job Duties

  • Develop, coordinate, and implement a diverse mix of events and programming at South Haymarket Park
  • design event setup packages including vendors, food trucks, tents, utilities, and waste management
  • establish fee structures and catering policies
  • manage event forms, permits, reservations, and coordinate with area activities and downtown events
  • establish and maintain relationships with local organizations, associations, and governmental units
  • maintain the community building's liquor license and Responsible Beverage Management Certification
  • develop and coordinate policies, procedures, and training for alcohol licensing and service
  • procure and manage alcohol inventory and ensure compliant and well-staffed events
  • partner with other Parks and Recreation staff to coordinate event logistics, staffing including volunteers, and maintenance scheduling
  • coordinate and assist with community-based public engagement efforts
  • collect and analyze data related to events and programming to provide annual reporting
