Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in business administration or related field
  • Seven years of professional parks and venue management and event planning experience
  • Three years of supervisory or management experience
  • Valid driver's license or ability to obtain by date of hire
  • Acceptable driving record according to county standards
  • Ability to respond to emergency calls and work beyond standard hours
  • Availability for occasional travel
  • Willingness to serve as a disaster service worker during emergencies

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field
  • Seven years of parks and venue management and event planning experience
  • Three years of supervisory or management experience
  • Knowledge of public relations and marketing principles
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Experience with budget preparation and monitoring
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic plans
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with computer software relevant to departmental operations
  • Skills in contract negotiation and administration
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Experience with capital improvement project planning

Job Duties

  • Serve as principal assistant to the director of parks and recreation
  • Assist in directing daily operations of the department
  • Participate in strategic planning and policy development
  • Monitor and evaluate department systems and compliance
  • Prepare and monitor department budget and expenditures
  • Oversee grant application planning and contract administration
  • Schedule and prioritize program work and departmental activities
  • Ensure services comply with laws, regulations, and contract provisions
  • Prepare progress and activity reports for department leadership
  • Represent the department in court, public meetings, and to media
  • Establish and maintain effective public relations
  • Manage and resolve complex inquiries and complaints
  • Supervise and evaluate department staff
  • Plan and coordinate departmental work plans
  • Oversee budget appropriations and financial reporting
  • Conduct studies and prepare reports for decision-making
  • Develop and recommend new programs and improvements
  • Collaborate on purchasing and contract negotiations
  • Develop long-term strategies for events and facility leasing
  • Plan and oversee capital improvement projects
  • Maintain department records and legal documentation
  • Liaise with citizens, organizations, and regulatory agencies
  • Provide general administrative direction and dispute mediation
  • Oversee marketing of facilities and events
  • Ensure compliance with procurement regulations
  • Mentor and train department staff
  • Attend meetings and participate in professional development
  • Ensure safety and emergency preparedness
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
