Job Requirements
- Ability to drive for a minimum of 1 hour sit for a minimum of 1 hour and walk for a minimum of 6 hours per workday
- Ability to bend stoop and lift 20 percent of the workday
- Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds for utilizing assigned equipment
- Ability to use both hands for firm grasping and repetitive actions
- Ability to perform job functions using safety precautions in all types of weather and temperatures
- Ability to drive an automobile
Job Qualifications
- A high school diploma or the equivalent
- Some clerical or related experience and some experience in dealing with the public or an equivalent combination of education and qualifying experience
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Must have transportation to get to assignment at various locations throughout Township
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations
- Ability to compose correspondence and reports
- Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products Word Outlook and Excel and applicable department and organization specific software and ability to learn and become proficient in the use of other specialized software as may be required
- Good knowledge of general customer service principles when dealing with the public
- Good knowledge of general safety precautions when operating near traffic
- Considerable ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Considerable ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with supervisors co-workers and the general public
Job Duties
- Patrols assigned area including parking lots and residential areas on foot noting parking violations and writing parking tickets as required by procedures
- In areas without parking meters enters plate numbers using a handheld computer or manually and periodically rechecks time that vehicle is at location
- Observes missing traffic signs and unsafe conditions and reports to proper authority
- Observes defective meters and brings to attention of supervisor
- Assists the public regarding travel directions and related matters
- Enforces snow removal ordinances by writing citations as assigned
- Carries a police radio and reports traffic collisions and other information to the Police Department and the Director of Parking Services as necessary
- Represents the Department in attending court hearings for parking violations
- Performs related work as required including office functions
