Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year work experience showing ability to maintain steady employment
  • Valid North Carolina driver's license
  • Ability to perform custodial and customer service duties effectively
  • Ability to learn and apply city or departmental policies and procedures
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, and lift up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Ability to interact professionally with the public and handle difficult situations
  • Willingness to undergo a fingerprint-based background check if required
  • Availability to work part-time schedule of 30 hours per week

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of work experience demonstrating steady employment
  • Valid North Carolina driver's license
  • Ability to perform custodial duties and customer service tasks
  • Proficiency in operating cleaning equipment, cash registers, and personal computers
  • Knowledge of safety procedures including handling of biohazardous materials
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions

Job Duties

  • Provide custodial duties at public parking garages and grounds including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping floors, cleaning and disinfecting bathrooms
  • Empty trash and recycling containers, replace liners, pick up trash, separate recyclables, dispose of trash
  • Conduct frequent rounds in parking facilities to inspect for hazardous conditions and perform cleaning of biohazard areas
  • Inspect parking facility for maintenance needs, improper parking, abandoned vehicles, loitering, and suspicious activity
  • Maintain building security by unlocking and locking doors, reporting problems, and assisting with gate repairs
  • Assist with event operations including coordinating vehicle entrances and exits, accepting payments, giving directions, and responding to customer complaints
  • Operate cleaning equipment, tools, alarm systems, and office equipment such as cash registers and computers
  • Monitor inventory levels of supplies and request replacements
  • Communicate with supervisors, city employees, and the public to coordinate work activities and resolve issues
  • Process documentation related to department operations including reports, receipts, cash reports, and citations
