Job Requirements

  • Possession of or ability to obtain within six months a valid Texas Class B Commercial Driver's License
  • physical ability to perform duties including lifting up to 100 pounds, pushing and pulling up to 200 pounds
  • ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • capability to operate motor vehicles through city traffic
  • ability to use both hands for grasping and operate a variety of hand and power tools
  • high school diploma or GED
  • two years of relevant park and landscape maintenance experience

Job Qualifications

  • Two years of progressively responsible park and landscape maintenance experience
  • possession of a high school diploma or GED
  • knowledge of proper methods, tools, materials and equipment used in grounds maintenance
  • knowledge of safe work practices
  • knowledge of basic minor construction and repair methods
  • ability to perform semi-skilled landscape maintenance work
  • ability to operate tractors, mowers, edgers and other equipment
  • ability to perform minor repairs on buildings, fences, athletic fields and other facilities
  • ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

Job Duties

  • Mow, trim, weed, fertilize, and water parks, playgrounds, and medians
  • operate power mowers, edgers, sprayers, and other equipment
  • rake leaves, clean walks, fields, swimming pools and other facilities
  • maintain and prepare athletic fields and recreational facilities
  • spade and prepare ground, mix and apply fertilizers, insecticides, and herbicides
  • plant and maintain trees, flowers and shrubs, remove and dispose of trees and stumps
  • pick up rubbish and paper, perform general grounds cleaning
  • drive vehicles to transport materials, tools, and equipment
  • assist in moving and installing park and recreational equipment
  • perform routine preventive maintenance on mowing equipment and hand and power tools
  • perform related duties as assigned
