Lane County is a local government entity in Oregon responsible for providing a wide range of public services to residents and visitors. One of its critical departments is the Public Works Department, which encompasses several divisions including the Parks Division. Job Requirements
- Possession of a valid Oregon driver’s license at the time of appointment
- Six months experience in operation of light equipment or semi-skilled tasks
- Ability to read and write at a level necessary for job performance
- Temporary position limited to 1,040 hours within fiscal year
- Willingness to undergo a full background check
- Ability to work 10-hour shifts Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday
- Physically capable of performing manual labor tasks outdoors
Job Qualifications
- Formal or informal education or training sufficient to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance
- Six months of experience operating light equipment or performing semi-skilled tasks
- Experience working in a parks environment is desirable
- Ability to operate various types of park maintenance equipment safely
- Valid Oregon driver’s license at time of appointment
- Ability to perform physical labor in outdoor environments
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Job Duties
- Operate light equipment such as pick-up trucks, tractors with attachments, power tools, mowers, blowers, chippers, and chainsaws
- Perform manual park maintenance tasks including mowing, weeding, pruning trees and shrubs, cleaning bathrooms, and hauling trash
- Assist in maintaining safe and clean recreational areas
- Support general park upkeep and grounds maintenance
- Follow safety protocols and operate equipment properly
- Work 10-hour shifts Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday as scheduled
- Participate in seasonal projects and special maintenance activities
