Job Requirements

  • Must have valid Type 3 Hawaii State driver’s license with clean traffic abstract
  • Must pass company sponsored medical examination and drug screen to meet Company and DOT Medical requirements
  • Ability to safely operate various passenger vehicles in compliance with regulations
  • Ability to perform medium physical work involving passenger assistance
  • Understanding and application of defensive driving and injury prevention techniques
  • Ability to use two-way radio, mobile data terminal, telephone, and other equipment
  • Must provide required assistance to passengers as specified by ADA without posing safety threat
  • Must be high school graduate

  • High school graduate
  • Communicates clearly in simple English both orally and in writing
  • Basic math skills to calculate time, distance, and money
  • Strong geographic knowledge of Oahu with map reading ability
  • Excellent judgment with emotional control and positive attitude
  • Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with operators, dispatchers, and customers

Job Duties

  • Safely operate all assigned vehicles on public roadways to deliver ADA eligible customers on schedule
  • Provide excellent curb to curb service with aloha and positively influence customers
  • Work independently with integrity and take direction positively
  • Analyze shift, manifest, and customer data to determine effective vehicle type and routing
  • Coordinate and document customer delivery, transfers, no-shows, cancels, and delays
  • Provide timely and accurate reports on accidents and incidents
  • Maintain logs and reports related to fare collection, vehicle condition, and service schedules
  • Perform medium physical work loading and unloading passengers, wheelchairs, baggage, and packages
  • Use communication devices such as two-way radios and mobile data terminals
  • Safely operate wheelchair lifts and securement belts
  • Conduct vehicle fueling and general maintenance tasks
  • Use safety equipment such as fire extinguishers and bio-hazard protective gear when necessary
