Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Current licensing or certification as EMT-Paramedic in the assigned state
- CPR and AED certification
- Completion of FDA-approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years clinical or hospital experience
- Fulfillment of state IV therapy requirements
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalency from a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment as EMT-Paramedic
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
- Satisfactorily complete FDA-approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting
Job Duties
- Determine donor eligibility including management of informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis results
- Evaluate and manage donor reactions and adverse events per Standard Operating Procedures
- Follow medical emergency SOPs including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport coordination
- Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on unacceptable findings, donor safety, and medical or technical issues
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees
- Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health or emergency room evaluation
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support pandemic threat investigations
