Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
  • Current licensing or certification as EMT-Paramedic in the assigned state
  • CPR and AED certification
  • Completion of FDA-approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • Two years clinical or hospital experience
  • Fulfillment of state IV therapy requirements

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalency from a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
  • Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment as EMT-Paramedic
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
  • Satisfactorily complete FDA-approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting

Job Duties

  • Determine donor eligibility including management of informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis results
  • Evaluate and manage donor reactions and adverse events per Standard Operating Procedures
  • Follow medical emergency SOPs including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport coordination
  • Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on unacceptable findings, donor safety, and medical or technical issues
  • Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees
  • Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health or emergency room evaluation
  • Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support pandemic threat investigations
