Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • License or certification as EMT-Paramedic in the state of assignment
  • Current CPR and AED certification
  • Basic IV therapy proficiency as per state requirements
  • FDA approved training completion for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • Minimum two years clinical or hospital experience

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
  • Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-Paramedic
  • Current CPR and AED certification
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
  • Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting

Job Duties

  • Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis
  • Evaluate donor reactions and manage adverse events according to SOPs
  • Follow SOPs for medical emergencies and coordinate donor transport to emergency care facilities
  • Refer unacceptable findings and medical issues to Center Physician or Medical Affairs
  • Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees
  • Manage employee incidents and determine need for further evaluation by occupational health or emergency room
  • Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support investigations related to pandemic threats
