Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
  • current licensure or certification as EMT-Paramedic in assigned state
  • current CPR and AED certification
  • completion of FDA approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training
  • two years of clinical or hospital experience
  • fulfillment of state IV therapy requirements

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
  • currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned as EMT-Paramedic
  • current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
  • fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy
  • satisfactory completion of FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting

Job Duties

  • determine donor eligibility, including management of informed consent, conducting AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE)
  • evaluate donor reaction(s) occurring at the facility according to standard operating procedures
  • follow SOPs for medical emergencies including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities
  • refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on unacceptable findings to donors, medical or technical issues, donor safety and eligibility
  • support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees
  • manage employee incidents and determine need for further evaluation by occupational health or emergency room
  • serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats in the local community
