Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- current licensure or certification as EMT-Paramedic in assigned state
- current CPR and AED certification
- completion of FDA approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training
- two years of clinical or hospital experience
- fulfillment of state IV therapy requirements
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned as EMT-Paramedic
- current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
- fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy
- satisfactory completion of FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting
Job Duties
- determine donor eligibility, including management of informed consent, conducting AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE)
- evaluate donor reaction(s) occurring at the facility according to standard operating procedures
- follow SOPs for medical emergencies including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities
- refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on unacceptable findings to donors, medical or technical issues, donor safety and eligibility
- support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees
- manage employee incidents and determine need for further evaluation by occupational health or emergency room
- serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats in the local community
