Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Current state license or certification as EMT-Paramedic
- Current CPR and AED certification
- Fulfill state IV therapy requirements
- Completion of FDA approved training for Medical Support Specialist
- Two years clinical or hospital experience
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment as EMT-Paramedic
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
- Fulfill state IV therapy requirements for licensure state
- Completion of FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years of experience in clinical or hospital settings
Job Duties
- Determine donor eligibility, including management of informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis
- Evaluate donor reactions occurring at the facility and manage according to SOPs
- Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities
- Refer unacceptable findings and medical or technical issues to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees
- Manage employee incidents and determine need for further evaluation by occupational health or emergency room
- Serve as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized to support investigations related to pandemic threats within the local community
