Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
  • Current state license or certification as EMT-Paramedic
  • Current CPR and AED certification
  • Fulfill state IV therapy requirements
  • Completion of FDA approved training for Medical Support Specialist
  • Two years clinical or hospital experience

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
  • Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment as EMT-Paramedic
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
  • Fulfill state IV therapy requirements for licensure state
  • Completion of FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • Two years of experience in clinical or hospital settings

Job Duties

  • Determine donor eligibility, including management of informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis
  • Evaluate donor reactions occurring at the facility and manage according to SOPs
  • Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities
  • Refer unacceptable findings and medical or technical issues to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs
  • Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees
  • Manage employee incidents and determine need for further evaluation by occupational health or emergency room
  • Serve as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized to support investigations related to pandemic threats within the local community
