Job Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- minimum three years’ recent experience in a busy 911 system with ALS experience
- national registry certificate
- paramedic license in the state of practice
- dual state licensure of Illinois and Wisconsin within 90 days
- current AHA BLS/CPR certification
- current AHA ACLS and PALS certification within 90 days
- EVOC driving course completion within three months of hire
- Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within three months of hire
- National Institute Healthcare Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification within one year
- Pre Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) within nine months
- Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC) attendance within one year
- NIMS training IS 100, 200, and Hazmat within 90 days
- FP-C specialty certification within two years
- certified American Heart Association instructor in at least one level within two years
- valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record per Mercyhealth HR policy
- reliable transportation and proof of vehicle insurance when driving personal vehicle
- excellent communication and customer service skills.

- high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and at least three years’ related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- minimum three (3) years’ (minimum of 4000 hours) recent experience in a busy 911 system with ALS experience
- previous critical care transport and flight experience preferred
- national registry certificate required
- paramedic license in the State of practice required
- dual State of Illinois and Wisconsin licensure required within 90 days
- current AHA BLS/CPR required
- current certification of AHA ACLS and PALS required within 90 days

Job Duties
- Provides pre-hospital advanced life support care from the initial contact until patient care is relinquished to the accepting medical facility
- maintains thorough patient care documentation in a timely manner
- practices within his/her scope of practice as defined by the State of Illinois/Wisconsin and Mercyhealth
- maintains competency in knowledge and psychomotor skills by participating in ongoing laboratory and clinical experiences
- communicates educational needs to the program leadership
- provides patient care as assigned and per routine, according to standards of care, shift routines, and policies and procedures
- performs advanced skills and procedures as approved by Mercyhealth
- maintains documentation of required licensure, certifications, continuing education, and safety training
- attends educational programs as required by the medical director
- serves as a role model, educator and clinical resource
- participates regularly in departmental activities, simulation, projects and committees
- acts as a preceptor and/or participates in onboarding/orientation of new partners and students
- knowledgeable in use and routine maintenance of all equipment and supplies used by Mercyhealth
- responsible for reporting medical equipment failures and taking steps to ensure repair
- maintains adequate supplies within program transport vehicles
- assists with the routine maintenance of ambulance, equipment and facilities
- functions as medical flight crew member attending mission briefings and completing documentation
- assists pilot as requested
- complies with safety standards for self, medical personnel, patient, and equipment
- conducts aircraft and ground safety briefings
- participates in Mercyhealth activities, projects and committees
- participates in patient and institution follow-up and outreach marketing and education activities
- maintains clean work and patient environment
- processes orders and answers calls appropriately
- maintains and orders supplies including scanning, stocking, and disposal
- performs venipuncture, IV access, 12-lead acquisition, blood glucose analysis, and CPR
- serves as resource to neonatal/pediatric partners
- floats to outlying Mercyhealth facilities based on needs and staffing models
- directs visitors to patient rooms
- maintains medical records and processes patient charges and supply orders.
