Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- valid driver's license and safe driving record
- North Carolina EMT-Paramedic certification or eligibility
- ability to wear respiratory and chemical protective equipment
- ability to pass Wake County EMS Physical Ability Test
- willingness to work rotating 12-hour shifts
- ability to attend paid academy and field training
- successfully complete criminal background and driving record checks
- pass pre-employment drug test
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- certification as a North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (EMTP) or eligibility for certification
- ability to work calmly under stress
- excellent communication skills
- physical ability to perform rigorous job functions
- experience working in a team environment
- understanding of Incident Command System
- valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
Job Duties
- Perform advanced life support skills utilizing standing order protocols
- provide comfort and compassion to patients and families
- interview and assess patients to identify complaints and issues
- lift and carry equipment, stretchers, and patients
- safely operate emergency vehicles
- respond to service requests in varied conditions
- utilize technology including navigation and biomedical equipment
- maintain cleanliness and restock equipment and vehicles
- communicate effectively with diverse individuals and groups
- work using personal protective equipment
- participate in training and community outreach
- precept paramedic students
- serve on department committees
