Job Requirements

  • Current Paramedic license in the State of Florida or Emergency Medical Paramedic (EMP)
  • Graduation from an accredited paramedic school
  • Ability to obtain required certifications (Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Cardiac Life Support, PALS, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) within 30 days of employment
  • Completion of CPI training within 30 days of hire
  • Ability to assist in emergency patient care under supervision
  • Effective communication skills to report patient condition
  • Commitment to patient safety and maintaining up-to-date knowledge and skills

Job Qualifications

  • Current Paramedic license in the State of Florida or Emergency Medical Paramedic (EMP)
  • Graduate from an accredited school for paramedics
  • Ability to obtain Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 30 days of employment start date
  • Ability to obtain Basic Cardiac Life Support within 30 days of employment start date
  • Ability to obtain Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 30 days of employment start date
  • Ability to obtain Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification within 30 days of employment start date
  • Completion of CPI training within 30 days of hire

Job Duties

  • Assist with patient care in the Emergency Department under the direction of the RN
  • Perform emergency care procedures including Advanced Life Support under the direction of the physician
  • Prioritize care when admitting patients to the Emergency Department
  • Assist in meeting and maintaining patient comfort needs such as toileting, nutrition, pain management, and positioning
  • Recognize signs of withdrawal and abuse of drugs and alcohol, reporting to ED Nurse/physician
  • Identify and report signs and symptoms of abuse and neglect to ED nurse/physician
  • Distinguish abnormal vital signs and inform the ED nurse/physician
  • Maintain proper communication channels and keep appropriate persons informed regarding patient condition
  • Keep knowledge and skills up to date in emergency care practices
  • Display knowledge of specific conditions, diseases, and treatment therapies relevant to the Emergency Department patient population
