Job Requirements
- current paramedic license in the state of Florida or emergency medical paramedic (EMP)
- graduation from an accredited paramedic school
- obtain advanced cardiac life support certification within 30 days of employment start date
- obtain basic cardiac life support certification within 30 days of employment start date
- obtain pediatric advanced life support certification within 30 days of employment start date
- complete nonviolent crisis intervention training within 30 days of employment start date
- obtain crisis prevention intervention certification 30 days after hire
Job Qualifications
- current paramedic license in the state of Florida or emergency medical paramedic (EMP)
- graduation from an accredited paramedic school
- advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification obtained within 30 days of employment
- basic cardiac life support (BCLS) certification obtained within 30 days of employment
- pediatric advanced life support (PALS) certification obtained within 30 days of employment
- nonviolent crisis intervention training obtained within 30 days of employment
- crisis prevention intervention (CPI) certification required within 30 days of hire
Job Duties
- assist with patient care in the emergency department under the direction of the registered nurse
- perform emergency care procedures including assisting with advanced life support under physician direction
- demonstrate appropriate priorities of care when admitting patients
- assist in meeting patient comfort needs such as toileting, nutrition, pain management, and rest positioning
- recognize signs of drug and alcohol withdrawal or abuse and report to emergency department nurse or physician
- identify and report signs and symptoms of abuse and neglect
- distinguish abnormal vital signs and inform the emergency department nurse or physician
- maintain proper communication channels regarding patient condition
- keep knowledge and skills up to date
