Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Current license or certification as EMT-Paramedic in assigned state
- Current CPR and AED certification
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
- Completion of FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Minimum of two years clinical or hospital experience
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned as EMT-Paramedic
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy in state of licensure
- Satisfactorily complete FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting
Job Duties
- Determine donor eligibility including management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE)
- Evaluate donor reactions occurring at the facility as outlined in SOPs
- Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on unacceptable findings, donor safety, and eligibility
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable
- Manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation is required by occupational health or emergency room
- Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and participate in investigations associated with pandemic threats
