Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
  • Current license or certification as EMT-Paramedic in assigned state
  • Current CPR and AED certification
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
  • Completion of FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • Minimum of two years clinical or hospital experience

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
  • Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned as EMT-Paramedic
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy in state of licensure
  • Satisfactorily complete FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting

Job Duties

  • Determine donor eligibility including management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE)
  • Evaluate donor reactions occurring at the facility as outlined in SOPs
  • Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities
  • Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on unacceptable findings, donor safety, and eligibility
  • Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable
  • Manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation is required by occupational health or emergency room
  • Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and participate in investigations associated with pandemic threats
