Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate equivalent of recognized educational nursing program with state licensing requirements
- Licensed or certified EMT-Paramedic in the state of assignment
- Current CPR and AED certification
- Completion of FDA approved training for Medical Support Specialist role
- Experience of at least two years in a clinical or hospital environment
- Availability for afternoon and closing shifts typically between 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM or 12:00 PM - 8:30 PM
- Weekend flexibility with open availability on either Saturday or Sunday
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-Paramedic
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
- Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy
- Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting
Job Duties
- Determine donor eligibility including management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE)
- Evaluate donor reactions occurring at the facility and follow SOPs for medical emergencies including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on unacceptable findings, medical or technical issues including donor safety and eligibility
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees
- Manage employee incidents and determine need for further evaluation by occupational health or emergency room
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community
- Follow environmental, health, and safety (EHS) guidelines and support center level EHS initiatives
