Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
  • Current state licensure or certification including EMT-Paramedic
  • Current CPR and AED certification
  • Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy
  • Completion of FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • Minimum two years of clinical or hospital experience

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
  • Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned including EMT-Paramedic
  • Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Completion of FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • Minimum two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting

Job Duties

  • Determine donor eligibility including management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE)
  • Evaluate donor reactions at the facility as outlined in SOPs
  • Follow SOPs for medical emergencies including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care
  • Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on unacceptable findings, medical or technical issues, donor safety and eligibility
  • Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees
  • Manage employee incidents and determine need for further evaluation by occupational health or emergency room
  • Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support investigations related to pandemic threats
