Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Current state licensure or certification including EMT-Paramedic
- Current CPR and AED certification
- Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy
- Completion of FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Minimum two years of clinical or hospital experience
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned including EMT-Paramedic
- Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Completion of FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Minimum two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting
Job Duties
- Determine donor eligibility including management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE)
- Evaluate donor reactions at the facility as outlined in SOPs
- Follow SOPs for medical emergencies including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care
- Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on unacceptable findings, medical or technical issues, donor safety and eligibility
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees
- Manage employee incidents and determine need for further evaluation by occupational health or emergency room
- Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support investigations related to pandemic threats
