Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of recognized nursing program
  • Active state license or certification such as EMT-Paramedic
  • Current CPR and AED certification
  • State requirements for basic IV therapy met
  • Completion of FDA approved BioLife training
  • Minimum two years clinical or hospital experience

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent including graduate of recognized nursing program
  • Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment such as EMT-Paramedic
  • Current CPR and AED certification
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
  • Completion of FDA approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training
  • Two years clinical or hospital experience

Job Duties

  • Determine donor eligibility including consent, AIDS education, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing serological protein electrophoresis
  • Evaluate and manage donor reactions in accordance with SOPs
  • Follow SOPs for medical emergencies including developing standing orders and coordinating donor transport to emergency care facilities
  • Refer donors to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings and guidance on medical or technical issues
  • Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees
  • Manage employee incidents and assess need for further evaluation by occupational health or emergency room
  • Serve as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and assist in pandemic threat investigations
