Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of recognized nursing program
- Active state license or certification such as EMT-Paramedic
- Current CPR and AED certification
- State requirements for basic IV therapy met
- Completion of FDA approved BioLife training
- Minimum two years clinical or hospital experience
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent including graduate of recognized nursing program
- Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment such as EMT-Paramedic
- Current CPR and AED certification
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
- Completion of FDA approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training
- Two years clinical or hospital experience
Job Duties
- Determine donor eligibility including consent, AIDS education, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing serological protein electrophoresis
- Evaluate and manage donor reactions in accordance with SOPs
- Follow SOPs for medical emergencies including developing standing orders and coordinating donor transport to emergency care facilities
- Refer donors to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings and guidance on medical or technical issues
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees
- Manage employee incidents and assess need for further evaluation by occupational health or emergency room
- Serve as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and assist in pandemic threat investigations
