Job Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of paramedic experience in a busy 911 system
- experience in a remote setting preferred
- prior military or fire experience preferred
- valid passport with at least 18 months validity before renewal and maintained during deployment
- ability to function accurately and efficiently in high pressure or emergent situations
- ability to respond calmly in emergency situations
- cultural sensitivity and willingness to work with foreign national patient populations
- ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- ability to work effectively with diverse persons in a culturally competent manner
- ability to manage and provide concise directions to supporting staff
- ability to quickly adapt to changing work conditions and responsibilities
- excellent written and oral English
- some travel may be required
Job Qualifications
- Hold a current unrestricted US license as a paramedic
- possession of a paramedic level certification (NRP) from the National Registry (NREMT)
- current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- tactical combat casualty care or pre-hospital trauma course preferred
- pediatric advanced life support preferred
- strong interpersonal and communication skills
- proficient IT skills including use of electronic medical records systems
- ability to assess and treat adult and pediatric patients in pre-hospital setting
- ability to successfully perform ALS interventions according to protocols
- ability to administer medication in adult and pediatric patients according to protocols
- excellent written and oral English
Job Duties
- Provide 24/7 emergent EMS response on site
- provide paramedicine pre-hospital support within the site, outside the site, and during transfer to local higher levels of care
- manage ambulance operations and EMS response supporting the clinic medical team
- assist medical providers with medical procedures and treatments within licensed scope
- assess and document patient’s vital signs, chief complaint, medical history, and prescribed medications
- report all changes in patient’s conditions to medical provider
- administer paramedic level care within standing orders and SOPs without exceeding licensed scope
- assist patients with basic care and activities of daily living
- provide support and education to help patients make responsible health decisions
- maintain Area of Responsibility supply inventory by checking stock levels and anticipating needed supplies
- restock EMS units and assist clinic operators with restocking
- cross-train to work within clinics, emergency room, and inpatient units
- perform other duties as assigned
