Job Requirements

  • high school education/GED or equivalent
  • paramedic license in state of practice
  • AHA Basic Life Support certification
  • AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification
  • valid driver’s license and must be at least 21 years of age or older
  • paramedic certification
  • hospital fire and life safety certification
  • preferred associate’s or technical degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience
  • preferred three years’ full time experience in a 911 system
  • preferred emergency vehicle operator certification

Job Duties

  • provides emergency care in the pre-hospital environment
  • provides advanced-level medical care including evaluation, treatment and stabilization to the ill and injured
  • responds to calls for emergency medical assistance such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation or bandaging a wound
  • assesses a patient's condition and determines a course of treatment
  • administers oral and intravenous medications, intubates patients or performs surgical airway insertion, and places catheters for venous access
  • provides individualized care plan for patient presentation according to medical practice standards, issued standing orders, and department policies
  • performs other job-related duties as assigned
