Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
  • 3 months paramedic experience or completion of a paramedic internship required
  • EMT-P - Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic required or LP - Licensed Paramedic
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 days of hire required
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 90 days of hire required
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (ED Only) within 60 days of hire required

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • 3 months paramedic experience or completion of a paramedic internship
  • 1 year paramedic experience in EMS or fire department preferred
  • EMT-P - Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic required or LP - Licensed Paramedic
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 days of hire required
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support required prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 90 days of hire required

Job Duties

  • Administers IV fluid without additives, saline flush, IV antibiotics, all IV medications excluding controlled and RSI medications
  • Uses ACLS drugs including drips with barcode medication verification during medication administrations
  • Administers all IM and oral medications excluding controlled drugs
  • Plans the care of the patient
  • Completes accurate documentation in the electronic health record
  • Provides consistent attention to airway, intake, elimination, sleep, rest, mobility and hygiene needs
  • Applies antiembolic stockings and sequential compression devices
  • Manages cervical collars
  • Performs external defibrillation
  • Applies nasal cannula or oxygen mask
  • Inserts and removes oral airway
  • Performs ultrasound-guided peripheral IV access
  • Draws blood from ports
  • Performs other duties as assigned by RN
