Job Requirements

  • Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 months of hire date or job transfer date
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 month of hire date or job transfer date
  • Emergency Medical Tech specializing in Paramedic credentialed from the Texas Office of EMS-Trauma Systems OR Paramedic credentialed from the Texas Office of EMS-Trauma Systems
  • Drivers license preferred
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred
  • High school diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience

Job Qualifications

  • Certification as an EMT, Paramedic, or similar license
  • Experience in sports medicine or a strong interest in learning more about the field
  • Ability to work independently, remain calm under pressure, and think quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with student-athletes, coaches, parents, and other medical staff
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about common athletic injuries, treatment protocols, and sports medicine practices
  • Independence and accountability
  • Field or event-based clinical experience preferred
  • Pediatric experience preferred
  • High school diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience

Job Duties

  • Provide basic and advanced life support treatment, care and evaluation of patients
  • Identify, intervene, and stabilize the ill or injured patient under the direction and in collaboration with a physician and/or Registered Nurse
  • Initiate and implement interventions based on transport team protocols
  • Monitor, record and communicate patient condition and treatment, as appropriate
  • Provide population specific education to the patient and family about the patient's illness and therapeutic interventions
  • Inspect, maintain and care for equipment to ensure safety of the transport team, patients and public
