Job Qualifications

  • completion of FEMA classes IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, and IS-800
  • maintenance of mandatory continuing education and in-service training
  • proficiency in agency approved driving course
  • knowledge of HIPAA privacy regulations

Job Duties

  • Provides basic and advanced life support according to medical and trauma protocols
  • interprets EKGs and performs defibrillation
  • administers medications including controlled substances
  • performs endotracheal intubation, cricothyrotomy, and chest decompression
  • drives specially equipped emergency vehicles to emergency locations
  • works assigned schedule including extended hours and overtime for 24/7 coverage
  • manages entrapment scenes and directs activities of rescue squads and first responders
  • ensures completion and proper hand-off of paperwork while adhering to HIPAA compliance
  • operates as Crew Chief on scene managing emergency situations and initiating medical procedures per protocols
  • supports emergency medical dispatcher instructions
  • maintains equipment and vehicle readiness
  • other duties as assigned
