- possess current paramedic certification

Job Qualifications

- ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedural manuals
- ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- effective verbal communication skills
- proficiency in basic algebra and geometry concepts
- ability to apply common sense understanding in problem-solving
- capable of working under pressure and in unpredictable situations
- ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally
- completion of FEMA classes IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, and IS-800
- maintenance of mandatory continuing education and in-service training
- proficiency in agency approved driving course
- knowledge of HIPAA privacy regulations
Job Duties
- Provides basic and advanced life support according to medical and trauma protocols
- interprets EKGs and performs defibrillation
- administers medications including controlled substances
- performs endotracheal intubation, cricothyrotomy, and chest decompression
- drives specially equipped emergency vehicles to emergency locations
- works assigned schedule including extended hours and overtime for 24/7 coverage
- manages entrapment scenes and directs activities of rescue squads and first responders
- ensures completion and proper hand-off of paperwork while adhering to HIPAA compliance
- operates as Crew Chief on scene managing emergency situations and initiating medical procedures per protocols
- supports emergency medical dispatcher instructions
- maintains equipment and vehicle readiness
- other duties as assigned
