Job Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or associate's degree or technical degree
  • Minimum three years of experience in emergency medical services
  • Advanced Life Support obtained within six months of hire date or job transfer date
  • BLS provider obtained within one month of hire date or job transfer date
  • Certification specializing in neonatal resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics obtained within twelve months of hire date or job transfer date
  • Certification specializing in the S.T.A.B.L.E program obtained within twelve months of hire date or job transfer date
  • Drivers license obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date
  • Emergency Medical Tech specializing in ER vehicle operation credentialed from Indiana Department of Homeland Security obtained within twelve months of hire date or job transfer date
  • Paramedic credentialed from Indiana Department of Homeland Security obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support obtained within six months of hire date or job transfer date
  • Certified Prehospital Trauma Life Support obtained within twelve months of hire date or job transfer date
  • Paramedic specializing in critical care credentialed from International Board of Specialty Certification obtained within twenty-four months of hire date or job transfer date, certified paramedic specializing in flight obtained within twenty-four months of hire date or job transfer date

Job Duties

  • Identifies, intervenes, and stabilizes the ill or injured patient during interfacility and intrafacility transport as part of the transport team in collaboration with the transport physician and/or registered nurse
  • Initiates and implements interventions based on transport team protocols
  • monitors, records, and communicates patient condition and treatment, as appropriate
  • Contacts receiving medical personnel, reports observations and follows directives
  • Inspects, maintains and cares for equipment to ensure safety of the transport team, patients and public
  • May be required to drive an ambulance to transport patients and/or supplies
  • Complies with the air medical vendor limitations and physical requirements
