Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or 10 years of work experience
  • No prior experience required
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) certification - American Heart Association
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification - American Heart Association
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification - American Heart Association
  • Paramedic certification - Oklahoma State Department of Health
  • Paramedic certification - National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT)
  • Valid driver’s license from the state of Oklahoma
  • Clean motor vehicle driving record
  • Ability to use speech constantly for communication
  • Capacity for constant standing and walking
  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing 0-25 lbs
  • Capacity for frequent sitting, reaching, and data entry
  • Use of vision and depth perception for near and far distances
  • Use of smell and hearing to detect and distinguish odors, sounds, and alarms
  • Occasional lifting or carrying of 25-50 lbs
  • Occasional patient lifting and movement
  • Ability to occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, grip, and perform repetitive foot, leg, hand, and arm movements
  • Occasional driving
  • Rare crawling and running

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or 10 years of work experience
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Life Support certification from the American Heart Association
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification from the American Heart Association
  • Paramedic certification from the Oklahoma State Department of Health
  • Paramedic certification from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians
  • Valid driver’s license from the state of Oklahoma
  • Clean motor vehicle driving record

Job Duties

  • Provides emergency medical care for patients suffering from acute medical illness or traumatic injury
  • Identifies and intervenes to stabilize ill or injured patients during transport based on department-approved protocols and in collaboration with physicians
  • Maintains thorough patient care documentation for legal and billing purposes
  • Inspects, operates, maintains, and cares for emergency department and hospital equipment to ensure safety
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition and treatment to the receiving treatment team
  • Demonstrates and maintains knowledge and skills necessary to care for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
  • Collaborates with other emergency response agencies
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safety
  • Performs other duties as assigned
