Job Requirements

  • Current Paramedic license in the State of Florida or Emergency Medical Paramedic (EMP)
  • Graduate from an accredited school for paramedics
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification obtained within 30 days of employment
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification obtained within 30 days of employment
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification obtained within 30 days of employment
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification obtained within 30 days of employment
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention required 30 days after hire

Job Qualifications

  • Current Paramedic license in the State of Florida or Emergency Medical Paramedic (EMP)
  • Graduate from an accredited school for paramedics
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) required 30 days after hire

Job Duties

  • Assist with patient care in the emergency department under the direction of the RN
  • Perform emergency care procedures including assisting with Advanced Life Support under physician direction
  • Demonstrate appropriate priorities of care when admitting patients to the Emergency Department
  • Assist in meeting and maintaining patient comfort needs such as toileting, nutrition, pain management, and rest positioning
  • Recognize and report signs of withdrawal and/or abuse of drugs and alcohol to the ED nurse or physician
  • Identify and report signs and symptoms of abuse and neglect to ED nurse or physician
  • Distinguish abnormal vital signs and inform the ED nurse or physician
  • Maintain proper channels of communication to keep appropriate persons informed regarding patient's condition
  • Keep knowledge and skills up to date relevant to emergency care
