Job Requirements
- Current Paramedic license in the State of Florida or Emergency Medical Paramedic (EMP)
- Graduate from an accredited school for paramedics
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification obtained within 30 days of employment
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification obtained within 30 days of employment
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification obtained within 30 days of employment
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification obtained within 30 days of employment
- Crisis Prevention Intervention required 30 days after hire
Job Qualifications
- Current Paramedic license in the State of Florida or Emergency Medical Paramedic (EMP)
- Graduate from an accredited school for paramedics
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) required 30 days after hire
Job Duties
- Assist with patient care in the emergency department under the direction of the RN
- Perform emergency care procedures including assisting with Advanced Life Support under physician direction
- Demonstrate appropriate priorities of care when admitting patients to the Emergency Department
- Assist in meeting and maintaining patient comfort needs such as toileting, nutrition, pain management, and rest positioning
- Recognize and report signs of withdrawal and/or abuse of drugs and alcohol to the ED nurse or physician
- Identify and report signs and symptoms of abuse and neglect to ED nurse or physician
- Distinguish abnormal vital signs and inform the ED nurse or physician
- Maintain proper channels of communication to keep appropriate persons informed regarding patient's condition
- Keep knowledge and skills up to date relevant to emergency care
