Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • one year of advanced life support ambulance experience
  • current Colorado EMT-Paramedic certificate or graduate EMT
  • successful completion of certification requirements within six months of training
  • valid Colorado Class R driver's license
  • ability to determine illness or injury nature
  • ability to prioritize and provide emergency care
  • professional interpersonal skills
  • clear and persuasive communication
  • ability to recall information
  • adaptability in changing circumstances
  • proficiency in verbal, written and electronic communication
  • problem-solving ability
  • knowledge of protocols and incident command system

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • current Colorado Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (EMT-P) certificate or graduate EMT
  • knowledge of paramedic and first-responder protocols, policies and procedures
  • ability to determine nature and extent of illness or injury
  • ability to make determinations regarding patient status and render emergency care
  • strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • ability to function in unpredictable and changing circumstances
  • knowledge of incident command system
  • ability to interact professionally with other personnel

  • ability to listen and recall information

Job Duties

  • Independently perform rapid assessment of emergency scene to determine need for auxiliary services such as fire and police
  • demonstrate awareness of changing environment and identify hazards
  • order resources accordingly and account for all patients at a mass casualty incident
  • determine medical disposition of patients and medical facility used
  • secure patient into ambulance and monitor condition en route providing continuous medical care
  • submit complete trip reports for each patient encounter
  • perform full assessments with vital signs as indicated
  • maintain control of emergency vehicle and use equipment according to laws
  • ensure readiness of ambulance by checking equipment and restocking supplies
  • respond to dispatcher and communicate clearly about unit status and location
  • follow safety, environmental, and infection control standards
  • initiate life-sustaining procedures including advanced life support
  • report to work as scheduled and provide notice for unscheduled leave
  • participate in mass casualty management and provide support at public events
  • act as field trainer or preceptor for new employees and students
  • promote positive interpersonal relationships with all individuals involved
  • adhere to mission, values, policies, and maintain patient confidentiality
