Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • 6 months experience as line cook in fast paced high volume environment or promotion from prep cook
  • valid Food Safety Manager Certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • sexual harassment training certification (or willingness to complete)
  • ability to work varying schedules including weekends and holidays
  • effective time and attendance management
  • physical capability to stand, walk, lift, carry, and perform duties involving use of knives and sharp objects
  • ability to maintain professional appearance and demeanor
  • willingness to comply with company policies and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • 2+ years as sous chef in a full service facility or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • ability to read, write and speak English
  • basic math skills
  • basic computer skills including MS Office and internet
  • ability to understand and properly execute recipes
  • knowledge of food safety practices
  • ability to use knives and other sharp objects safely
  • team player with effective communication skills
  • ability to work under stress in a fast-paced environment
  • ability to listen and follow directions
  • must maintain a valid Food Safety Manager Certification (training provided)
  • must maintain Sexual Harassment Training Certification (training provided)
  • successful completion of extensive 10-year criminal background check and SFO SIDA training
  • successful completion of computerized employment testing and in-person interview

Job Duties

  • working the line with preparation and plating of all menu items
  • cleaning the line and work areas consistently and ensuring staff compliance
  • preparing base items such as sauces and portioning goods
  • conducting regular food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety inspections
  • expediting food from the front line
  • managing inventory, ordering, and stocking supplies
  • training new employees and coaching current staff including sous chefs
  • coordinating repair and maintenance activities
  • performing administrative duties including manager log entries, invoice coding, and staff documentation
