Job Requirements
- Obtain Serve Safe certification within 60 days
- attend and complete all Foodbank and Salvation Army related trainings
Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED with one to two years related experience
- strong organizational skills
- ability to multi-task
- knowledge of community resources
- basic word and data entry skills
- ability to lift up to 30 pounds
- valid Motor Vehicle Driver's License in good standing
- ability to drive 12 passenger van and pass the required Salvation Army driving test
Job Duties
- Oversee food delivery and verify the delivery bill for contents of delivery
- stock and shelve all food items adhering to all codes applicable to food storage
- intake all new clients for their need to participate in the program, verifying income, residence, children and adults living in the household
- perform ongoing re-verification for Food Pantry clients annually and collect new verification papers
- maintain regular Food Pantry hours daily from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM Monday through Thursday
- handle emergency groceries outside of pantry hours on a crisis basis ensuring no client is turned away
- record Food Pantry clients on Friday of each week and tally all client statistics monthly to submit to Corps Family Emergency Worker
- greet and receive all clients and visitors in a pleasant manner and arrange for referral to proper staff and program areas
- keep the work area clean and tidy and report unsafe conditions to Corps Officers
- assist with unloading weekly food delivery
- assist with cleaning duties within the pantry to maintain operational standards
- ensure shelves and refrigerator/freezer are stocked at the end of each day
- pick up donated food and baked goods as needed
- maintain cleanliness of the Food Pantry and Client Choice waiting area
- maintain current and accurate records on services provided
- provide assistance to the Family Services Department adhering to The Salvation Army policy regarding confidentiality
- participate in and support implementation of special activities and events as requested by Corps Officer
- assist with administration of seasonal programs including Christmas, Kettles, Back-to-School, and Summer Youth
- assist with registrations for all holiday activities, meals and toy programs
