Job Requirements

  • Obtain Serve Safe certification within 60 days
  • attend and complete all Foodbank and Salvation Army related trainings

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED with one to two years related experience
  • strong organizational skills
  • ability to multi-task
  • knowledge of community resources
  • basic word and data entry skills
  • ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • valid Motor Vehicle Driver's License in good standing
  • ability to drive 12 passenger van and pass the required Salvation Army driving test

Job Duties

  • Oversee food delivery and verify the delivery bill for contents of delivery
  • stock and shelve all food items adhering to all codes applicable to food storage
  • intake all new clients for their need to participate in the program, verifying income, residence, children and adults living in the household
  • perform ongoing re-verification for Food Pantry clients annually and collect new verification papers
  • maintain regular Food Pantry hours daily from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM Monday through Thursday
  • handle emergency groceries outside of pantry hours on a crisis basis ensuring no client is turned away
  • record Food Pantry clients on Friday of each week and tally all client statistics monthly to submit to Corps Family Emergency Worker
  • greet and receive all clients and visitors in a pleasant manner and arrange for referral to proper staff and program areas
  • keep the work area clean and tidy and report unsafe conditions to Corps Officers
  • assist with unloading weekly food delivery
  • assist with cleaning duties within the pantry to maintain operational standards
  • ensure shelves and refrigerator/freezer are stocked at the end of each day
  • pick up donated food and baked goods as needed
  • maintain cleanliness of the Food Pantry and Client Choice waiting area
  • maintain current and accurate records on services provided
  • provide assistance to the Family Services Department adhering to The Salvation Army policy regarding confidentiality
  • participate in and support implementation of special activities and events as requested by Corps Officer
  • assist with administration of seasonal programs including Christmas, Kettles, Back-to-School, and Summer Youth
  • assist with registrations for all holiday activities, meals and toy programs
