Job Requirements
- Must be a US citizen
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program
- Must pass E-Verify employment verification check
- Must comply with selective service registration if applicable
- Must complete pre-appointment physical examination
- Must wear personal protective equipment continuously during shifts
- Must participate in medical surveillance programs
- Must be willing to travel CONUS and OCONUS including remote sites
- Must be able to work on ships and climb ladders and scaffolding
- Must be able to work in small or confined spaces
- Must be willing to work uncommon tours including nights, weekends, and holidays
Job Qualifications
- Ability to lead or supervise
- Possess quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform duties at expert level
- Experience in abrasive blasting and painting operations on naval or industrial equipment
- Knowledge of safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate materials and tools logistics
- Familiarity with working in confined spaces, at heights, and onboard ships
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
Job Duties
- Perform abrasive blasting on the exterior and interior of ships and submarines above and below ground level from various heights
- Perform just-in-time diagnostic and troubleshooting to prevent loss of product
- Ensure other workers follow instructions received from supervisors to meet deadlines
- Assure safety and housekeeping rules are followed including correct use of tools and adherence to machine operation limits
- Ensure needed plans, blueprints, materials, and tools are available and needed stock is obtained from supply locations
- Lead or supervise painting personnel and coordinate work schedules
- Wear personal protective equipment continuously during work shifts
