Job Requirements

  • Must be a US citizen
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program
  • Must pass E-Verify employment verification check
  • Must comply with selective service registration if applicable
  • Must complete pre-appointment physical examination
  • Must wear personal protective equipment continuously during shifts
  • Must participate in medical surveillance programs
  • Must be willing to travel CONUS and OCONUS including remote sites
  • Must be able to work on ships and climb ladders and scaffolding
  • Must be able to work in small or confined spaces
  • Must be willing to work uncommon tours including nights, weekends, and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to lead or supervise
  • Possess quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform duties at expert level
  • Experience in abrasive blasting and painting operations on naval or industrial equipment
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate materials and tools logistics
  • Familiarity with working in confined spaces, at heights, and onboard ships
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills

Job Duties

  • Perform abrasive blasting on the exterior and interior of ships and submarines above and below ground level from various heights
  • Perform just-in-time diagnostic and troubleshooting to prevent loss of product
  • Ensure other workers follow instructions received from supervisors to meet deadlines
  • Assure safety and housekeeping rules are followed including correct use of tools and adherence to machine operation limits
  • Ensure needed plans, blueprints, materials, and tools are available and needed stock is obtained from supply locations
  • Lead or supervise painting personnel and coordinate work schedules
  • Wear personal protective equipment continuously during work shifts
