Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • five or more years of experience in industrial painting or equivalent
  • painting certifications
  • ability to perform assigned tasks
  • ability to communicate effectively
  • knowledge of safety procedures
  • physical ability to lift parts up to 75 pounds
  • ability to use hand and power tools
  • ability to work in awkward positions such as crouching and kneeling
  • ability to operate ladders and stairs safely
  • ability to read and interpret blueprints and paint codes
  • willingness to work various shifts and overtime
  • commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or its equivalence
  • five or more years of experience in industrial painting or an evaluated equivalent
  • painting certifications
  • proficient at reading checklists, paint codes, safety logs and JSA's
  • ability to demonstrate knowledge in every step of the paint process
  • knowledge in fine line painting
  • ability to cross-train
  • strong interpersonal communication skills
  • ability to teach, train, and mentor new hires and co-workers

Job Duties

  • Communicate verbally with co-workers to keep a safe working environment
  • train new hires
  • instruct co-workers to complete a task
  • be responsive to needs of co-workers and supervisors
  • transport truck parts to and from designated areas
  • spray paint and primer onto parts
  • use hand and power tools to prep truck parts for the painting process
  • assist co-workers with pushing/pulling carts filled with parts and equipment
  • bleed lines, apply sealer, and apply paint to parts
  • detect unpainted areas on a part that is not painted and paint over it
  • detect and repair defects in the painted parts
  • have knowledge in skill painting (e.g. shooting blends)
  • hand sand, file, grind, and repaint parts and equipment when necessary
  • caulking, taping, and hanging of parts
  • metal finish, sand, grind, flatten parts for the painting process
  • complete finish work including painting and touch-up painting
  • apply primer to larger truck parts (e.g. truck frames, doors, and subassembly parts)
  • wipe down body parts of a truck and apply multiple coats of paint to the part
  • rotate between painting, sanding, and taping parts and equipment
  • troubleshoot tools and equipment
  • quality checks on finish painted parts
  • sweep and clean work area and equipment
  • must maintain a safe and clean work environment
