Job Requirements
- Active AZ, CA, NV Paramedic licenses
- FP-C certification
- NRP certification
- BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications
- trauma course (PHTLS, TPATC, or equivalent)
- weight limit of 225 lbs including gear
- high school diploma or GED
- minimum three years recent 911 experience
- one year full time flight experience
- maintain flexible schedule including two 24-hour shifts per week
- availability to travel approximately 85 percent of the time
- maintain current certifications and licensures
- ability to meet state and county credential requirements
- proficiency in advanced clinical procedures
- good physical fitness to meet safety and operational demands
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with at least three years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- bachelor’s degree in health-related field preferred
- minimum three years recent experience in busy 911 system
- one year full time previous flight experience required
- skills to practice as paramedic within scope of practice and advanced skills as defined by Medical Director and standards
- strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
- high critical thinking and attention to detail
- flexible with 24-hour shifts, overtime and on-call
- dependable and self-motivated
- excellent written and verbal communication skills
- proficient with Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- registered EMT-P licensed in states where Air Methods operates
- National Registry certification
- FP-C specialty certification
- current healthcare provider BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS or equivalent
- advanced provider ITLS or PHTLS if required
- advanced trauma course certification
- current NRP certification
- NIMS training IS 100, 200, 700, 800, and HazMat
Job Duties
- Provides pre-hospital advanced life support care from initial contact until patient care is relinquished to medical facility
- maintains thorough patient care documentation
- practices within scope of practice as defined by states and Air Methods CBS
- maintains competency through ongoing laboratory and clinical experiences
- communicates educational needs to Clinical Education Team
- maintains documentation of licensure, certifications, continuing education, training, and rotations
- attends minimum six educational programs annually
- knowledgeable in use and maintenance of equipment and supplies
- reports medical equipment failures and coordinates repairs
- maintains adequate onboard supplies and cleanliness of aircraft
- participates in patient and institution follow-up and outreach activities
- functions as medical flight crew member assisting in pre-mission briefings, liftoff checklist, and pilot support
- complies with safety standards to ensure safety of self, crew, patient, and equipment
- conducts aircraft safety briefings
- serves as flight resource for neonatal/pediatric transports
- performs advanced skills approved by Medical Director
- acts as role model, educator and clinical resource
- participates in departmental projects, committees, and professional activities
- other duties as assigned
