Job Requirements

  • Active paramedic licensure in Nevada, California, and Arizona
  • minimum three years recent critical care experience in ALS/911 or flight within last five years
  • minimum one year full-time flight experience
  • weight must not exceed 225 pounds including flight suit and boots
  • ability to work flexible schedule including minimum two 24-hour shifts per week
  • availability to travel extensively within the PacWest Region (85% travel)
  • high school diploma or GED
  • valid certifications including BLS, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS or ITLS, FP-C, NRP
  • maintain current licensure and certifications
  • comply with Air Methods safety and clinical standards
  • complete required training and education
  • ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with teams
  • self-motivated, dependable, and adaptable to changing environments

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with three years related experience or equivalent
  • bachelor’s degree in health-related field preferred
  • minimum three years recent experience in a busy 911 system
  • one year full-time previous flight experience
  • registered EMT-P licensed in all states of operation
  • national registry certification
  • FP-C certification required
  • current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and PHTLS or ITLS
  • advanced trauma course completion such as TNCC or ATLS
  • current NRP certification
  • completed NIMS training IS 100, 200, 700, 800, and HazMat
  • strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, and critical thinking skills
  • proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Job Duties

  • Provides pre-hospital advanced life support care from initial contact to patient handoff
  • maintains thorough patient care documentation
  • practices within defined scope of practice
  • maintains competency through ongoing education and clinical experience
  • maintains documentation of licensure, certifications, and training
  • ensures equipment readiness and reports medical equipment failures
  • maintains adequate aircraft supplies and cleanliness
  • participates in patient and referring institution follow-up and outreach activities
  • attends pre-mission briefings and debriefings
  • assists pilot with navigational and safety tasks
  • conducts aircraft safety briefings
  • serves as a flight resource for neonatal/pediatric specialty transports
  • performs advanced clinical procedures as approved
  • acts as a role model, educator, and clinical resource
  • participates in departmental projects and committees
