Job Requirements
- Minimum one year of full-time flight nursing experience
- CFRN certification required
- graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- BSN preferred
- current RN license(s) with multi-state or compact license preferred
- at least three years of recent critical care or emergency nursing experience within last five years
- strong critical thinking, communication and collaboration skills
- ability to travel frequently and adapt to different base operations
Job Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- bachelor’s degree in health-related field preferred
- minimum three years recent critical care or emergency nursing experience within the last five years
- pre-hospital experience preferred
- one year full-time flight nursing experience required
- current RN licenses for states of practice where Air Methods maintains CBS locations
- nurse compact license preferred
- current certifications in Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS or equivalent
- advanced trauma course certification like TNCC, ATLS/ATCN, TPATC or CAMTS approved advanced trauma course
- current NRP certification
- specialty certification of CFRN required
- EMS or MICN certification/licensure as required by state regulations
- NIMS training IS 100, 200, 700, 800 and HazMat
- skills to practice nursing as defined by state scope and advanced practice skills as approved by Medical Director
- high critical thinking, communication and interpersonal skills
Job Duties
- Provide high-quality patient care from initial contact through transport to the accepting facility
- support flight teams at multiple bases ensuring safety is the top priority on every mission
- maintain competency in advanced procedures, critical care, and aviation safety
- collaborate with EMS, hospitals, and clinical teams across the region
- work a flexible schedule with 24-hour shifts assigned 4-8 weeks in advance
- assess and triage patients to establish and prioritize care needed for safe transport
- maintain thorough patient care documentation
- attend pre-mission briefings and mission debriefings and complete necessary documentation
- assist pilots with radio, navigational, and visual observation activities
- ensure medical equipment is functional and report failures
- participate in patient follow-up and outreach marketing activities
- act as preceptor and participate in orientation of new employees and students
- participate in research and publishing opportunities and other duties as assigned
