Job Requirements
- Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
- Current Colorado Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner license
- 2-3 years of general orthopedic experience
- Basic Life Support - CPR certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal healthcare regulations
- Ability to work full-time during day shifts
- No new graduates
Job Qualifications
- Master’s degree and certification from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
- Current Colorado Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner license
- 2-3 years of general orthopedic experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Knowledge of local, state and federal healthcare delivery and billing regulations
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
- Proficient in electronic medical record documentation
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Job Duties
- Transmit and prescribe prescription orders pursuant to written protocols as authorized
- Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments and discharge planning
- Utilize observation, inspection, palpation, percussion, and auscultation skills using diagnostic instruments or laboratory procedures
- Document patient care findings accurately using computerized provider order entry (CPOE) systems
- Coordinate care by collaborating with surgeons and multidisciplinary teams to obtain appropriate services
- Provide thorough and timely reports on patients’ conditions to surgeons and team members
- Work collaboratively with Utilization Review and Care Management to manage patient length of stay and discharge planning
- Recognize and intervene in life-threatening situations, possibly as a member of the Rapid Response team
- Reassess patients regularly and revise plans of care as needed
- Counsel individuals, families, and groups on health and illness and promote health maintenance
- Participate in the development and execution of hospital policies, procedures, standards, and protocols
- Develop and implement professional and community education programs related to healthcare
- Serve on various hospital committees and act as an internal resource for CMS, TJC, and quality improvement initiatives
- Ensure medical records meet quality and patient experience indicators
- Work with interdisciplinary teams to reduce unnecessary hospital readmissions
- Assist surgeons in orthopedic surgical cases
