Job Requirements
- Must be able to stand to do most tasks performed on feet, walk up and down stairs
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds including trash, supplies, salt and sand
- Must be able to climb ladders and balance while walking on tracks
- Must be able to stoop, kneel and crouch for cleaning tasks
- Must pass drug and alcohol testing mandated by the Federal Transportation Administration
- Must pass a physical examination and perform associated physical activities
- Must have ability to see near and far with color vision
- Must be able to talk and hear to report vandalism and for safety purposes
Job Qualifications
- Knowledge of proper cleaning methods, techniques, materials and supplies relating to locations and surfaces to be cleaned
- Ability to properly and safely use cleaning solvents, chemicals and machinery
- Ability to write legibly and express oneself in a clear manner
- Good communication skills to understand written and verbal instructions
- Ability to identify and report vandalism and equipment malfunctions
Job Duties
- Maintains rail system stations, towers, agent's booths, stairways, offices, washrooms, work areas, lunch rooms and related buildings and facilities in a clean, neat and orderly condition
- Performs janitorial duties within rail system buildings, facilities and related areas
- Picks up debris, sweeps, dusts, scrubs floors, woodwork, etc.
- Washes windows, signs, tables, sinks lavatories, etc.
- Empties trash containers and removes trash to disposal location
- Cleans and dusts office furniture and related items
- Cleans chrome on turnstiles, escalators, agent booths, elevators, benches and handrails
