Job Description

Temple University, located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is a large, comprehensive public research university with a vibrant campus community. Known for its commitment to inclusion, diversity, and academic excellence, Temple offers a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs to its diverse student body. As a significant institution in higher education, Temple University not only emphasizes academic growth and research but also fosters an inclusive work environment for its staff and faculty. The university's Main-Housekeeping Department plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming campus environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors alike. The department ensures that all university facilities, including classrooms, offices, recreational areas, and other communal spaces, are kept in excellent condition to support the overall educational mission of the university.

The Main-Housekeeping Department at Temple University is currently seeking Overnight Housekeeping Team Members for a Service Staff IV position. This role offers an hourly wage of $20.91 and a consistent Monday through Friday schedule from 11:00 pm to 7:30 am. Employees in this position become part of the larger Temple University community, gaining access to a comprehensive benefits package, which includes full medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, twelve paid holidays annually, tuition remission allowing eligible employees and their dependents to pursue degrees tuition-free, and a generous retirement plan.

This role is essential in sustaining the cleanliness and maintenance of various university spaces during overnight hours when campus activity is lower. As a Service Staff IV member, individuals will be responsible for a broad range of cleaning duties across various campus locations. These locations include classrooms, kitchens, offices, corridors, stairways, washrooms, study areas, lecture halls, lounges, recreational areas, fitness centers, pool areas, game rooms, and television lounges. Employees will perform floor maintenance operations such as stripping, refinishing, waxing, and buffing using specialized power machines. They will also handle other cleaning tasks including mopping, emptying trash cans, cleaning walls, furniture, equipment, and maintaining the sanitation of washroom fixtures.

Team members in this overnight position must demonstrate physical endurance, as the work requires standing for long periods, frequent walking and bending, and the capability to work in damp conditions. Additionally, on-call service may be required during critical or emergency events to support the university's operational needs. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of the Director of Operations & Facilities Management and is expected to perform additional job-related duties as assigned. Temple University values a work environment that adheres to strict policies of equal opportunity and non-discrimination, fostering inclusivity across all aspects of its operations. Employees are also expected to comply with ethical, legal, and institutional standards, ensuring their actions align with the university's policies and regulations at all times.

Overall, this overnight housekeeping role at Temple University offers a stable work schedule, competitive hourly pay, and comprehensive benefits, making it an excellent opportunity for those with housekeeping experience seeking employment within an educational institution dedicated to community support and development. Individuals who take on this role contribute significantly to maintaining the university's clean and safe environment, thereby supporting the success and well-being of the entire Temple community.
