Job Requirements
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- standing and walking for 6-8 hours during an 8-hour shift
- hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling
- ability to bend, twist, squat, and reach
- exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
- tolerance to temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit
- ability to work in wet and dry conditions
- ability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
- ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
- may require use of ladders
- capable of arriving to work on time, appropriately groomed, and ready to work
- must follow all safety, sanitation, and product quality standards
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- no prior retail experience required
- knowledge of assigned team’s product preparation, display, storage, and stocking standards
- understands spoilage and supply waste and its effects on department profits
- basic computer skills
- strong communication skills
- ability to deliver information clearly and respectfully
- ability to meet customer service expectations and standards
- effective time management and organizational skills
- passion for natural foods and Whole Foods Market’s mission
- strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- understanding of and compliance with Whole Foods Market quality goals
Job Duties
- Prepares products for display and sale including cutting fruits and vegetables
- measuring, mixing, and preparing raw materials according to defined specifications and recipes
- forming food items into defined shapes and sizes
- labeling, dating, covering, and rotating prepared product
- baking, cooking, or otherwise preparing product
- ensuring product meets Whole Foods Market guidelines for quality and preparation
- ensures that merchandising areas, walk-ins, freezers, and food preparation areas are clean and sanitary
- cleans department continuously and maintains sweep logs
- arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
- works all scheduled shifts and attends required trainings and meetings
- provides excellent customer service and models suggestive selling techniques
- maximizes sales potential through proper prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
- follows and complies with Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
- maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
- performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
- reports safety hazards and violations
- performs other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership
