Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two or more years in outreach, marketing, communications, public relations, events planning, or teaching preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for transportation to offsite events
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Ability to bend frequently
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Availability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings
  • Commitment to cooperative principles and community values
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to changing requirements
  • Regular and predictable attendance

Job Duties

  • Offer consistent, fair, and respectful customer interactions to ensure satisfied shoppers and encourage repeat customer traffic
  • Project a helpful, approachable manner with smiling, eye contact, open posture, and greeting nearby shoppers
  • Use knowledge of body language and cues to understand and provide desired personal service
  • Answer all phone calls within 3 rings
  • Understand and communicate the particulars of ownership to shoppers and staff alike
  • Actively help create an environment that is inclusive, safe, and respectful for everyone
  • Know and promote the cooperative principles and Ends
  • Speak positively and respectfully about coworkers, customers, local businesses, farms, and vendors
  • Operate with teamwork and approach tasks with solution-oriented thinking
  • Find and create creative opportunities to reach new customers
  • Create and organize quarterly owner drives, surveys, and other owner initiatives
  • Serve as a community liaison by building strong relationships with staff, owners, customers, and community partners
  • Plan and host events, workshops, and fundraisers
  • Write, develop, and update content for the co-op website
  • Create content for monthly newsletter, email marketing, and social media
  • Coordinate and execute community events and fundraisers
  • Assist in planning and facilitating cooking classes
  • Create annual promotional plan and new in-store promotions
  • Track promotions, product inventory, and customer information
  • Understand and adhere to store emergency and safety procedures
  • Use safe food handling and preparation methods
  • Ensure work areas are clean and meet all Health Department and ADA requirements
