Job Requirements

  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods
  • Ability to lift and carry food and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to safely climb ladders and scaffolding
  • Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours
  • Position may require bending, leaning, pushing, pulling, kneeling, and walking
  • Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate
  • Ability to view and enter data into computer for long periods
  • Ability to respond to critical incidents and act swiftly in emergencies

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university specializing in Recreation Management, Outdoor Education, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years professional related experience
  • Ability to obtain Level 2 High Ropes Course certification within six months if not already certified
  • Teaching, facilitating, teambuilding experience preferred
  • Strong experience in program design, development and evaluation
  • Experience and certification in high ropes/challenge courses preferred
  • Administrative experience
  • ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Personnel values consistent with the YMCA mission and core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility
  • Strong working knowledge of computers and common programs including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Ability to delegate responsibilities and support staff
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • Ability and willingness to travel, work weekends, and evenings

Job Duties

  • Oversee all operations of Outdoor Education programs including managing bookings, sales, staff training and supervision, program quality, and program evaluation
  • Oversee all operations of Group Rentals including weddings and birthday parties including managing bookings, sales, staff training and supervision, program quality, and program evaluation
  • Oversee all operations of Homeschool programs including registration, family communication, staff training and supervision, program quality, program evaluation, and direct delivery of Homeschool programs
  • Responsible for Vacation Camp programs staffing, planning, evaluation, and budgets during December, February, and April
  • Coordinate with Camp Registrar and Finance department to ensure timely processing of payments and contracts
  • Support summer camp operations with weekly duties such as food shopping, laundering lost and found, and assisting community events
  • Assist Director of Camping Services with the annual camp budget relevant to year-round programs
