Job Requirements

  • Associate degree or higher
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license or equivalent clinical licensure
  • Minimum four years clinical experience
  • Ability to work night shifts including three 12-hour call days per week/weekend
  • Ability to respond onsite within one hour of notification
  • Ability to travel extensively within service area
  • Physical ability to lift/carry under 20 lbs more than 65% of the time
  • Knowledge of donor management and organ procurement procedures
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

Job Qualifications

  • Associate degree required
  • Registered Nurse licensure preferred
  • Minimum four years clinical experience strongly preferred
  • Experience in critical care, emergency care, or OPO clinical background
  • Knowledge of operating room environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage stress and high pressure situations
  • Certification or ability to obtain ABTC certification (CPTC) within 2 years
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Job Duties

  • Facilitates organ donation process
  • Oversees donor management including medical stabilization
  • Initiates donor management orders and consults with medical director
  • Evaluates organ suitability through medical assessments
  • Coordinates case dynamics and communication with Organ AOC
  • Directs and maximizes organ recovery process ensuring hospital policy compliance
  • Communicates recovery process details to hospital and transplant staff
  • Performs necessary follow-up related to recovery
  • Triages organ referrals from HonorBridge answering service
  • Facilitates communication between answering service and hospital staff
  • Initiates action and logistics for organ referral
  • Evaluates potential organ donor candidates
  • Assesses and analyzes clinical data for donation suitability
  • Collaborates with Organ AOC and Medical Director on organ suitability
  • Maintains relationships and communication with hospital staff and physicians
  • Completes and reviews electronic donor records
  • Maintains confidentiality of donor and recipient information
  • Assists with quality assurance and e-chart completion
  • Responds to administrative duties including communication and projects
