Job Requirements

  • Minimum three years experience as assistant manager in an upscale bar or restaurant
  • high school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate
  • prior restaurant service and guest relations experience preferred
  • liquor commission card and certification from alcohol awareness program required
  • tuberculosis clearance
  • ability to anticipate guest needs and respond promptly
  • familiarity with hotel services and local attractions
  • highly organized and detail-oriented
  • ability to maintain positive guest relations
  • effective verbal and written communication skills
  • knowledge and use of computers and software
  • familiarity with POS system operation
  • physical ability to move tables and chairs, lift up to 25 pounds, stand and walk up to 8-9 hours, work 10-hour shifts
  • ability to work indoors and outdoors under various weather and temperature conditions

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Greet and acknowledge all arriving/departing guests
  • escort guests to tables and assist with seating
  • ensure menu and wine list presentation
  • maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all department policies, service procedures, and standards
  • maintain correct maintenance and use of equipment
  • anticipate guest needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests
  • maintain positive guest and employee relations
  • familiarize with all hotel services, features, and local attractions to respond to guest inquiries
  • resolve guest complaints ensuring guest satisfaction
  • monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas
  • maintain knowledge of table, seat, and station numbers, proper table setups, room capacity, outlet hours, and dress codes
  • familiarize with all aspects of the menu, food preparation, and presentation
  • familiarize with wine menu and beverage list
  • train and retrain new and existing staff
  • prepare and adjust weekly work schedules
  • authorize vacation, sick leave, holidays, schedule changes, and overtime for staff
  • interview candidates and assist in hiring
  • conduct employee performance evaluations
  • ensure compliance with liquor laws and health regulations
  • keep updated on industry trends and developments
  • participate in sales calls and client visitations
  • recommend improvements to Food and Beverage Director
  • ensure SOP compliance
  • maintain awareness of safety issues
  • visit guests in the dining room for satisfaction checks
  • maintain presence on dining floor ensuring staff quality standards
  • actively participate in providing exceptional service
  • complete assigned administrative work
