Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required
  • Previous reception or medical office experience desired
  • Must be authorized to work in the US
  • Ability to stand and walk for the majority of the day
  • Ability to lift items up to 50 pounds
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
  • Basic computer skills
  • Willingness to travel up to 25 percent

Job Duties

  • Greet patients warmly and professionally during check-in and check-out
  • Collect and update patient demographic and insurance information
  • Use practice management software to process payments and schedule appointments
  • Provide information and answer patient questions regarding medical authorizations, insurance coverage, and facility locations
  • Function as a cashier for clinic and optical services, managing billing for unpaid charges
  • Verify insurance eligibility and collect required insurance data during check-in
  • Schedule follow-up appointments, procedures, and consultations as needed
  • Balance cash drawer and complete end-of-day reconciliation
  • Notify patients of arriving optical jobs and key invoices accurately
  • Answer and triage phone calls promptly and politely to the appropriate staff member
